By request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A family committal service and a memorial reception will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be made at: www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca. Sincere thanks are expressed to the medical team and in particular Dr. Jill Robertson, at the Halifax Infirmary site of the QE II Health Sciences Center; thank you as well to Barbara Stewart and the Palliative Care Team, and the visiting VON nurses who worked so hard at making Marlene’s stay at home more comfortable.
“Today I sat by a little brook â€" listening to its chant as it coursed through rocks and stones running on its way to the little pond â€" below the trees and shadows. A special place so many of you shared with me. May fond memories and my love remain with all of you.”
