Obituary for Madeleine Wheeler

Madeleine  Wheeler

Mary “Madeleine” Wheeler, 53, of Mahone Bay, passed away, Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton.

Born in Sheeves Cove, Port Au Port, NL.; she is a daughter of James and Dorothy (Young) Wheeler, Maitland.

Over the years, Madeleine worked as a cook and baker in many restaurants and later worked as a home care worker in the area. Her love of life, family and friends, and the enjoyment she found riding on Harley’s were so important to her. Madeleine’s quiet courage, strength of spirit, and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Wheeler (Glenn Freeman), Kingston; sisters, Audrey (Austin Green) Wheeler, Stonehurst; Jo-Ann (Douglas) Peveril, Hebbville; brothers, Owen (Lisa) Molega Lake; Leonard (Pearl), Oakhill; Harold (Mona), Oakland; Jacob (Sherry), Mahone Bay;, grand-daughter, Jazmin Freeman, 11 nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Maida.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and where a memorial service to celebrate Madeleine’s life will be held
Sunday at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Newfoundland.

No flowers by request, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Lodge That Gives, the Nova Scotia Lung Association or to Fabry’s Disease.
