It is with great sadness that the family of Dennis Ian Blinn, 49, of Pine Grove, announces his passing on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Halifax, Ian was the son of Edgar and Thelma (Kenney) Blinn of Lunenburg.

Ian received his earlier education at the Lunenburg High School and then went on to take a computer program in Halifax.

His working career started at Composite Atlantic, Lunenburg and then worked with his father at Nelson Consulting Company. Ian then decided to go into trucking and worked long haul, then short haul trucking for various companies in the South Shore and for the last 7 years with Armour Transportation Systems.

Ian found great pleasure in the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family and friends, enjoying his Xbox, watching a good car race, daily side trips with Terilee and cherished moments with his dogs, Jake and Maggie.

Besides his parents, Edgar and Thelma Blinn of Lunenburg, Ian is survived by his loving wife, Terilee (Munroe), sister, Pamela Moore, Bedford, brother, Fred (Mandy Ryan), Halifax; and James (Shelley), Halifax and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

A service to celebrate Ian’s life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Rose Fund (The Rosanne Himmelman Cancer Patient Fund ("The Rose Fund"), raises funds "to help ease the pain" for the residents of our local communities who are struggling financially while being treated for cancer)
or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Dear Edgar, Thelma & Terilee My sincere condolences on the passing of Ian. It certainly came as a huge shock to me. Far too young! Please know my thoughts and prayers will be with you, and pray you will feel God's comforting arms around you. Terrilee, I know what it's like to loose your husband and it's extremely difficult. Thelma and Edgar, I can't even imagine the pain your hearts feel loosing your son. A quote that was in a card of Mom's 2 years ago was beautiful: Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves memories no one can steal. God Bless Marlene Mercer, Daneeka, Anthony and children

Ian was my best friend when we were little kids growing up in Halifax. Over the years we lost touch and never came to know each other as adults. As children we went to cub camp together at Miller's Lake and explored the green spaces of our neighborhood. It seems fitting to honour his memory by helping the forests in this way, and I know that I will hold my memories of him closer in thanks for the time we able to spend together.

Edgar and Thelma; I am so sorry to hear of Ian's passing. It has been many years since the Kenney family had a reunion, but I remember them fondly. On behalf of my family, I want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. - Debi (Kenney) Lewis.

My deepest sympathy to Ian’s immediate and extended family. Having moved away from Lunenburg many years ago I hadn’t seen him for some time but remember having great “ catch up” conversations whenever I would see him during my visits home. I have many fond memories of Ian during our time at the Academy, LHS as well as at United Church Youth Group. Ian was a “breath of fresh air” his humor and wit always kept me and others entertained. Cherish and take comfort in your memories. Math 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
